THE EXPERIMENT: A photo of George W. Bush was downloaded from Google Image Search, and the background was removed using the Magic Wand tool. The Stamp Tool was then used to create multiple copies of various facial features, starting from the center and moving out. The resulting layer was duplicated several times, shifted in position on each layer, and changed to "Multiply" or "Overlay"-style transparencies.
